Posts and boards

Posts on cigt come in two kinds: posts that belong to a channel, and board posts that belong to no channel at all. They look like the same card on screen, but they differ in who may write them and where they end up.

Reading needs no account. Writing, editing, and saving a post require signing in. The list of boards is set by the service — you cannot create one yourself.

A board post has no channel, so the emotes you can insert are the ones available to you rather than a channel's set. That is the one difference from writing on a channel.

Only the author can edit or delete a post. An edited post is marked as edited, and the body stays public.

Deleting a post cannot be undone. Once the post is gone, the comments written under it are no longer visible either.

The discussion button on a stock page opens a list holding only the posts about that stock. Start writing from there and the stock is attached to your post automatically.

• A post with a stock attached shows a stock chip that links back to the stock page
• You do not need to put the stock name in the title — the list filters by the attached stock, not by wording
• Clear the filter and you see every post on that board

A stock page also has its own comment box for quick reactions. Use the comments for a one-liner and a board post when you have more to say.

• React — leave an emoji reaction
• Save — keep it in Saved
• Share — copy the link or send it straight into cigt Messenger
• Comment and report — the same as on a channel post
• Gift — send some of your points to the author

Views are counted once per reader. Only the author can open the list of people who read a post, and only signed-in readers appear there by nickname. Everyone who read without signing in is counted as a number.

When a post is written in a script other than your own, a translate button appears under the body and under comments. Translation happens on your device, so the original text never leaves it. The on/off setting lives on your profile page and is stored per device rather than on your account.

A gift really spends your points. Once sent, it cannot be cancelled or refunded.

The Posts menu gathers posts from many channels together with board posts, split into a latest tab and a popular tab. The popular tab surfaces posts that have drawn reactions recently.

Saved holds only what you kept. Channel posts, board posts, clips, videos, and lives each have their own tab. Board posts have no channel, so they sit under the boards tab rather than the posts tab.

If a post you saved is deleted or hidden, the entry stays in Saved but shows the title and image as they were when you saved it.

Search has three tabs: all, cigt, and ci.me. The cigt tab returns channels, posts written here, open chat rooms, and magazine articles. The ci.me tab returns ci.me lives, clips, videos, and posts mirrored from ci.me. The all tab mixes both.
