Lyrics overlay — show the line you are singing
The line you are singing appears on your stream. Gatherbot never stores the lyrics — they live in your browser and on your PC.
Where lyrics come from
Gatherbot neither stores nor relays lyrics. The browser that opens the screen fetches them itself: what it already kept, then the lyrics folder you picked on your PC, then the lyrics link saved on the song, and finally a public lyrics database.
So files in your folder do not follow you to another PC. Copy them into the lyrics folder there as well.
File formats
- Timed lyrics (.lrc) — played on the stream as is
- Subtitles (.srt, .vtt) — start times are read the same way
- Plain text (.txt) — no timings, so nothing is shown until you make a sync (below)
- A meaning or reading placed under a line is shown in smaller type on the stream too
Without timings nothing is shown at all. Pinning the first line would leave a wrong line on screen for the whole song.
Making a sync
- 1Open [Make sync] in the lyrics card of the remote
- 2Paste the lyrics and press [Start]
- 3Play the song and press [Stamp this line] (or the space bar) as each line begins
- 4Missed one? [Undo one] clears just the last stamp
- 5When done, save to the lyrics folder or download the file
Saved files load automatically next time. They stay on your PC — nothing is uploaded to Gatherbot.
Fixing drift
| Symptom | What to adjust |
|---|---|
| Everything is early or late by the same amount | Tap the line you are singing |
| Starts fine but drifts further as the song goes | Turn on [Fit playback rate] and tap a line near the end |
| Only one song is off | Save it to that song and leave the book default alone |
Rate matters when the recording differs — a live take, another release, a different speed. A start point alone keeps drifting apart.
Common questions
Lyrics show in the remote but not on stream
Lyrics read from a PC folder cannot be opened by the stream overlay — there is nobody there to grant folder access. Put a lyrics link on the song, or use a song that the public lyrics database can find.
Does Gatherbot keep my lyrics?
No. It neither stores nor relays them. Only your browser and your PC hold the text; the server knows the link and a few numbers such as the offset.
